The 74th edition 

The 73rd edition of the Cannes Film Festival was cancelled due to the pandemic. However, you can discover the 23 films of the selection and their new release dates here. For the first time, the 74th edition will take place in the summer, from July 06th to 17th. While we don’t know yet the full composition of the Jury, Spike Lee, who was supposed to preside last year, will lead the Jury this year. Anette, Carax’s latest film, his first in English, will open the Festival. So let’s roll out the red carpet and enjoy the magic of the Festival!

Accreditations 

The Cannes Film Festival is reserved to film industry professionals. Every participant must be granted accreditation to take part in the Festival:

• Film Professionals’ Accreditation will give access to the Palais des Festivals and The Marche du film to the film industry professionals.
• Press Accreditation for journalists.
• Cinephiles Accreditation for film enthusiasts and educational groups.
• The “Trois jours à Cannes / Three days in Cannes” Pass, reserved for cinema lovers aged between 18 and 28.

Sanitary protocols

The Cannes Film Festival will follow the protocol developed by the French government and has communicated the measures. The French government published a Strategy for reopening public establishments and public activities in 3 phases. Starting June 30th, conventions, fairs and exhibitions will be permitted at 100% capacity (ERP). The use of a “health pass” is mandatory for all events with more than 1,000 visitors or delegates. Fairs and exhibitions are open to all professionals and the general public. The measures will include:

• Respect for social distancing (mandatory face covering, hand sanitizing, physical distancing, dedicated signage)
• Reconfiguration of spaces and circulation (circulation redesigned, cross-flow reduced customer service areas reconfigurated)
• Sanitary measures (disinfection of touched surfaces, hand-sanitizing stations)
• Medical personnel (24/7 Medical Concierge Service, medical team onsite, management of suspected cases).

Environmental Commitments

The Cannes Film Festival commits for the environment in consultation with the firm Green Evenements. The 74th Festival will take 12 significant measures to reduce waste and carbon emissions, recover residual materials and offset the carbon footprint. We can find among theses measures:

• The total elimination of plastic water bottles (over 22,000 were used in 2019)
• A 50% reduction of the volume of red carpet
• An environmental contribution from the Festival to compensate for the footprint of the event’s production
• And an environmental contribution of €20 from festival-goers to compensate for the footprint of their travel and accommodation.
